The History of American Music

Music is an important cultural reflection and influence. While Justin Timberlake, Nickelback, and Kenny Chesney may represent today’s American music to many, American music has not always sounded like it does now. These musicians did not appear out of thin air, and to understand where they came from, one must understand the history of music in the United States, particularly jazz, blues, bluegrass, and country music.
